Main Content
  • Freeride

With 200 km of marked powder runs and countless more variants in the backcountry the Arlberg is a paradise for freeriders.

  • Number one priority for every adventure is safety and the Arlberger Bergbahnen AG has invested exactly into that to improve the safety of the winter sports athletes.

  • Safety first!

    Freeride Safety Training

Scanning avalanche cones, using avalanche transceiver, searching, digging etc. In case of emergency these measures have to be taken correctly and quickly - hence they need to be practised.

Therefore the Arlberger Bergbahnen AG, in cooperation with Ortovox, has created the Freeride Safety Training. This permanent practice field in the area of Salzböden on Rendl has, in total, five buried transceivers and is available for free to all interested winter sport athletes, in particular to freeriders.

    Freeride Checkpoints

3 information boards on Galzig, Gampen and Rendl provide freeriders with the most important information: avalanche alert level, weather report, backcountry rules, avalanche transceiver check etc.

all skischools are offering courses and instruction on the subject of freeriding to improve the experience and safety and to maximise the fun factor.
